Venue

The Conference will be held at the Holme Building and Footbridge Theatre at The University of Sydney, with the Conference Banquet being held in the Great Hall at The University of Sydney. Please refer to the Campus map http://db.auth.usyd.edu.au/directories/map/largemap00a.html

Getting there

complimentary conference bus

The University of Sydney Camperdown campus is a 20-25 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from the Central Station. As there are a number of good accommodation options near Central Station, We will be running a complimentary bus for conference delegates between The Mercure-Sydney Hotel, 818-820 George Street and The University of Sydney.

Please note that the bus will be run on a first-come-first-served basis, the bus holds 49 passangers and will make 2 trips each morning from the Mercure Sydney Hotel to The University of Sydney and 2 trips each evening from The University of Sydney to the Mercure Sydney Hotel.

The Forest Coachline bus will leave from the Mercure Sydney Hotel's driveway located on Little Regent Street and drop delegates off at The University of Sydney, University Place, near the Clock Tower entrance. Please aim for the first bus in the morning to ensure you get a spot and, if you prefer, it's only a 20 minute to walk to the conference venue, straight along Paramatta Road. If you miss the complimentary conference bus you can catch Sydney buses from Central Station at Railway Square along Parramatta Rd to the Footbridge theatre stop at the University.

Catch a train to Central station, and then catch a bus from George Street or Railway Square, catch routes 412, 413, 435, 436, 437, 438, 440, 461, 480. Alight at the Footbridge theatre bus stop on Parramatta Rd (map ref 15C)

Catch a train to Central station, and then take a 20-minute walk to the Holme Building along Broadway and then Parramatta Road. Enter Sydney University by Footbridge Theatre Entrance (Map ref 15C)

Catch a train to Redfern train station (enter via map ref 24T), and then take a 15-minute walk through the University to the Holme Building.


by bus from the City
For stops on Parramatta Road (closest to the Holme Building and Footbridge Theatre) catch routes 412, 413, 435, 436, 437, 438, 440, 461, 480 from George Street or Railway Square. Alight at the Footbridge theatre bus stop on Parramatta Rd (map ref 15C)

For stops on City Road (closest to Darlington Campus) catch routes 422, 423, 426, 428 from Castlereagh Street or Railway Square, and alight on City Rd for Sydney University (Map Ref 18N), then walk 10 minutes through the University to the Holme Building.

by bus - cross routes
Route 370 runs between Coogee and Leichhardt. Alight on City Rd for Sydney University (Map Ref 18N), then walk 10 minutes through the University to the Holme Building.

Route 352 runs between Bondi Junction and Marrickville. Alight on City Rd for Sydney University (Map Ref 18N), then walk 10 minutes through the University to the Holme Building.

Bicycle
Bicycles must be secured only to University approved bicycle racks located throughout the University grounds.

by car
Limited, short term (hourly) parking rates only apply in the Shepherd Street carpark (Map ref 27M) and the Western Avenue underground carpark (Map Ref 8M), and is not permitted anywhere else on campus.

The Mercure Sydney Hotel, George Street have offered our conference delegates staying at the Mercure special nightly rates of $155 room only for a single room, $170 single room plus breakfast and $185 double room plus breakfast. If you have already booked into the Mercure and wish to receive this rate you will need to contact Natalia Leal at the Mercure and quote "UTS Conference Booking" before you arrive and check in to the hotel to get this special room rate. Business Visitor Visas for International Delegates

We are liaising with the International Events Coordinator Network (IECN) within the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, to streamline visa applications for international delegates. Following registration, a letter of confirmation of registration will be supplied which can be forwarded to an overseas Australian Visa Office with the visa application.

Travel

There is no nominated airline for travel to the Conference. For those arriving at Sydney Airport, information about the airport and transport into the city is on the Sydney Airport website.

Posters

Printed posters will be on display for the duration of the conference. There will be two poster viewing evening session (with drinks and buffet dinner) on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July. A number of posters will be selected from abstract submissions for "Speed Dating" presentations as brief (2 minute), single-screen Powerpoint oral 'grabs' to portray the meat and merit of your work. Please ensure that all abstracts are submitted on the registration form by the due date: 24 April 2009. Printed posters should be A0 size (841mm wide by 1189mm high) with Velcro hooks around the back edges.

Oral Presentations, Contributed papers, Symposia and Plenary Lectures

Audiovisual aids for oral presentations will include computers and data projectors set up to support Powerpoint presentations only. Speakers should bring electronic copies of their presentation to the conference on CD or memory (USB) stick. Plenary lectures will be 45 minutes, including questions, Symposium lectures will be 30 minutes, including questions; and Contributed papers will be 15 minutes, including questions. All electronic copies of conference presentations held by the conference coordinator will be deleted following the completion of the session.
