Post-doctoral Research Fellow

  • High throughput protein expression
  • Cellular immunity
  • Genome-wide antigen identification

QIMR is one of Australia's largest and most successful medical research institutes. We investigate the genetic and environmental causes of more than 40 diseases, and are developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies to promote health and well being for all people.

The Molecular Vaccinology lab investigates the molecular basis of immunity to disease, including immune mechanisms and their regulation, antigenic targets of immunity, and novel vaccine delivery platforms. A major focus is the development of a malaria vaccine, using genome-wide approaches.

This position offers the opportunity to expand on recent advances in genomics, proteomics, and molecular immunology to dissect the molecular basis of immunity to malaria and develop an effective malaria vaccine. The research will have a particular focus on reverse vaccinology and high throughput protein expression technologies to identify targets of cellular immunity on a genome-wide scale.

Applicants must possess a PhD or equivalent, a demonstrated proficiency to carry out high quality research, and a proven record of accomplishment. Experience in cellular immunology, protein expression, DNA microarrays, basic informatics and/or functional genomics is particularly desirable.Experience with malaria or vaccine development will be highly regarded Excellent computer, communication, and organisational skills are essential.
